About the Learning from Serious Case Reviews Levels 1 to 4

This free course looks to raise awareness about critical learning from Serious Case Reviews(SCR) and potentially help save lives by equipping those who come into contact with children, with the knowledge and understanding they need. Learners will be able to identify and refer concerns, assess and intervene and work effectively within the multidisciplinary safeguarding system.

The course takes a child centred approach by drawing on the real lived experiences of children who have experienced neglect, abuse and extra-familiar harm, and is informed by the SCR findings published in the past two years. The course also explains the statutory process for managing serious child safeguarding incidents under Working Together 2018.

This course will help you to understand

  • The most common risk factors relating to neglect, abuse and extra-familial harm that feature in serious child safeguarding incidents.
  • How you have a role to promote the welfare and safeguarding of children within the context of multi-agency working.
  • The 10 key principles of learning from SCRs are critical to keeping children safe, and how they apply to your role.
  • Why children's rights to have their wishes and feelings listened to in decision making that affect their lives matters.
  • The importance of knowing and understanding the legal and policy frameworks, to fulfil statutory responsibilities.
  • How the management of child safeguarding incidents process works, from the point of an incident notification to undertaking a Child Safeguarding Practice Review (local and national)

This course will take up to 1 hour to complete and comes with a downloadable certificate.

Safeguarding for Children Level 2

Safeguarding for Children Level 2 introduces key areas of safeguarding and is suitable for a range of roles including; administrators, teaching assistants, and early years practitioners. This course will ensure you have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies, legislation and guidance, and includes ways you can reduce the risk of abuse, the signs and symptoms of different types of abuse, and the impact well-known child abuse and neglect cases have had on legislation.

 

Safeguarding for Children Level 3

Safeguarding for Children Level 3 is one of our most in depth courses and is designed for managers/practitioners who frequently come into contact with children and their families. This online course outlines the core responsibilities of lead workers as well as why safeguarding is important, serious case reviews, key terms, reducing the likelihood of abuse, signs and symptoms of abuse, what to do if you suspect abuse, and the importance of whistleblowing.

Safeguarding Everyone Level 2

Safeguarding Everyone Level 2 explores the responsibilities level 2 workers may have, what the signs and symptoms of abuse are as well as how the risk of abuse can be reduced and the actions needed to be taken if you suspect abuse. In addition, the course expands on whistleblowing and its importance, as well as the importance of multi-agency cooperation and the impact well-known cases of abuse have has on legislation.

Safeguarding Everyone Level 3

With our Safeguarding Everyone Level 3 package learners will be able to identify and then act after recognising signs and symptoms of abuse, and the ways in which to reduce the risk of abuse of vulnerable children, young people and adults. Discover the impacts well-known cases have has on legislation, the importance of multi-agency cooperation and whistleblowing.
